Lament for a deeply wounded Church

Some things cannot be expressed in just words.  Sometimes they can only be perfectly expressed with the aid of music.

Miserere mei, Deus, by Gregorio Allegri :

This music, normally heard during Holy Week, is just as appropriate now as we witness the ongoing Crucifixion of the Church of Christ.

Yes, deeply wounded and heart broken is a very apt description for the Church of now! This beautiful music reminds me of the Church of my childhood - one filled with incense, holy pictures and statues, the recitation of the Rosary, the thrill of the Midnight Mass at Christmas, the flicker of the intercessory candles in front of one's favourite Saint's statue, the beauty of the face of the Ever Virgin Mary Mother of God and the reverence which was accorded to her, the apprehension of approaching the Confessional, everything - everything was done in order and properly and we ALL understood what it all meant and why we did it. Now the Destroyer has come and wilfully finished off what was started 60 years ago by rebellious and prideful prelates! Tragic and sad doesn't even come close to what has been taken from us!
But through this all - in Almighty God WE TRUST!
